Action Plan 
I have completed this pre-production task in order to create myself a schedule and list of things that need to be done before, during and after making the film. This way, I create myself a check list and give myself deadlines for the work to be complete, also cast and crew members would know when they are needed and mainly what stages of pre-production we are at.  After finding out dates I could begin to start my action plan so I knew what amount of time I would have to film. We firstly blocked out any dates we were unavailable to film (weekends etc.) and then put the pre-production tasks in what order I needed to complete them in. Then I categorised them by adding lengths of time, whether they were sequential, or if I would be able to complete certain tasks alongside others and lastly what other tasks, it was dependent on. I think by doing this now, I will have given myself the best chance of keeping organised and sticking to deadlines within this project.

  Film Ideas  I completed this pre-production activity in order to write down the basics of my film extracts like ideas, locations and characters. I knew I wanted to do a thriller film extract and therefore knew who the target audience would be. Next, I made a list of all the things I needed to know and wrote them out. I firstly came up with an idea, then the title, the characters and then the others. By doing this, I have made my pre-production tasks more organised, and this will help me evaluate my ideas and see which one would be most likely for me to film. I can add to this document as I carry on with the production process if I change/improve my ideas.

Researching Film Conventions

 By completing this pre-production activity I have enabled myself to analyse what has already been successfully produced around the 'thriller' genre. This allows me to take and adapt parts of the short films and use them in my film, this also inspires me to generate further ideas. To do this I researched into what were the most successful/popular thriller films, this came up as 'The Guilty' and 'Split,' these are full length films which would be beneficial for inspiring further ideas but not for looking into smaller codes and conventions as my film would be significantly shorter. In order to overcome this obstacle, I searched up thriller short films, in order to analyse codes, conventions and narrative arcs. This will ultimately positively impact my work as I can generate and improve my ideas, include similar codes and conventions in order to make sure I can adhere to genre conventions.

  UNIT 4 PRE-PRODUCTION PORTFOLIO REPORT Pre-production is an essential part of film production, it is crucial that these documents and procedures are done to industry standard as this will impact the level of success the production achieves. The better, higher standard of preproduction relates to a higher success level because the production process will run more smoothly, with fewer avoidable problems. Whereas the unorganised, incomplete pre-production will severely impact the success rate.
